Senior Building Performance Analyst

The role at Mott Macdonald was intended to bridge the sustainability and computational design teams. The job partially involved analyzing buildings for sustainability metrics to produce reports using the company's established processes. However, the main task that needed doing was to improve the tools and workflows being used. Building on my previous experience in software development, I attempted to demonstrate the value of best practice computational design methodolgy and promote a more Agile bottom up and collaborative approach. 

Nodebox

Nodebox is the centralised inhouse Grasshopper and Dynamo plugin for Mott Macdonald. I built several nodes for this, but my vision of using larger more powerful components to make the more accessible and democratised was not well supported. This experience really got me thinking about how the Utilisation Fallacy and toxic bureaucracies in AEC create barriers to Digital Transformation. I was able to learn from my mistakes, as well as some self awareness of my own prior assumptions.
